If you’re bringing the family on a Florida vacation, with miles of sandy beaches and a hopping nightlife, The Sunshine State has plenty for mom and dad. But you’ll want to take the kids to see the mermaids.

Yes. That’s right! There are mermaids in Florida! Not real ones, obviously, but your youngsters won’t notice. So, let’s unpack 5 Places to See Mermaids in Florida.

#1 Weeki Wachee Springs

Located in Spring Hill, Florida, Weeki Wachee Springs is probably the number one place to see mermaids in the Sunshine State. The Weeki Wachee Springs Mermaids call the Weeki Wachee Springs State Park home.

Here the mermaid show is a version of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid. The underwater presentation can be viewed from dry seats in the Newton Perry amphitheater within the state park located at the intersection of S.R. 50 and Hwy. 19, just 45 minutes north of Tampa, Florida.

Fees for the park range from $13 for adults, and $8 for children ages 6 to 12. Ages 5 and under are admitted free.

#2 Mertailor’s Mermaid Aquarium Encounter

Mertailor’s Mermaid Aquarium Encounter is located on W Gulf to Lake Hwy in Lecanto, Florida. It’s a fairly new all-in-one shop and mermaid aquarium. Here you can purchase mermaid merchandise and check out the mermaids showcasing their underwater talent in the aquarium.

The aquarium, which opened in 2021, is home to a variety of marine life from local sources as well as from oceans around the world. Some marine life displayed is from Florida’s natural springs, like the Florida garfish and American bullfrog. Others include ocean species such as the Peacock Mantis Shrimp and Two-Spotted Octopus.

Located in the Ocala National Forest in Salt Springs, Florida, the Silver Glen Springs Recreation Area boasts a bit more than your average recreation. It’s a beautiful swimming and snorkeling spot where you get a chance to be a mermaid while swimming in the crystal-clear waters of the spring.
