The Panama City Chamber of Commerce annual block party is back for its 10th year and once again, there’s a dinosaur invasion in the historic downtown area.
And for the second year in a row, the Bay County Chamber of Commerce sponsored event will feature a T-Rex Relay Race.
Prior to the Jurassic predators joining the fun, there were bed races at the Bay County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors Block Party.
Panama City Chamber of Commerce: Giving Back to the Community
The Panama City Annual Block Party is in its 10th year. Now, the Chamber of Commerce describes the event as a way of thanking the community and celebrating Bay County accomplishments over the previous year.
Though this is the tenth block party, it’s only the second time the chamber has held a T-Rex Relay Race for the event.
“We’re always kind of serious and trying to get involved in different community things,” said Board Chairman Kyle Shoots speaking to Channel 13 News. Speaking about the upcoming block party, he said, “It’s not stressful it’s really easy-going and everybody’s having a good time.”
There is always music and things to eat. And Shoots said it’s “a really relaxing time for the chamber to kind of get involved”. He said, they “love on the community a little bit”.
Hundreds of community businesses and residents are expected to attend the party. Plus, the Bay County Board of Directors serves up food donated by its members.
But what’s this we hear about dinosaurs on the streets of Panama City? It’s a not-to-miss event.
T-Rex Relay Race Becomes New Tradition for Block Party
Last year was the debut of Panama City Florida‘s T-Rex Relay Race. And participants dress in inflatable T-Rex costumes and compete in a relay race.
So, there are three separate competitive mini-games. Also, one of them is a tough challenge where the racers (in costume) waddle holding a balloon between their knees.
Should be something for the kids to enjoy (and grownups too)! Plus, there will be live music from True Soul, a well-known local R&B/soul band from Panama City.
The free event is open to the entire community. It runs from 5 PM to 7 PM on Thursday, March 30, 2023. So, join the fun at 235 W. 5th Street in Historic Panama City.
