Are you looking for kid-friendly nature trails in Crystal River, Florida? Look no further. Crystal River is known for its manatees but there are so many more things to do within a short distance of CR.  

There are great seafood restaurants, cozy bed and breakfasts, and exciting kid-friendly amusement parks like Busch Gardens found in Tampa and nearby like Weeki Wachee Springs. 

There are also numerous historical landmarks to visit surrounding Crystal River.

#1 Crystal Cove Trail

Crystal Cover Trail is a kid friendly trail located in Crystal River Preserve State Park. It’s a beautiful 1.7-mile loop. The route generally making it ideal for bringing the youngsters and it takes about 30 minutes to walk, depending on what else comes along. 

It’s a popular trail for birding, hiking, and walking and dogs are allowed but only on a leash. Park hours are daily from 8 AM–7 PM. 

#2 Crystal River Preserve Loop Trail 

Also, a part of Crystal River Preserve State Park located on St Park Street in CR, Crystal River Preserve Loop Trail is 7.3 miles long. It’s great for hiking and mountain biking.  

An unpaved trail features tidal creeks, marshy flats and woodlands. The trail is accessible from 8 AM–5 PM daily.  

#3 Three Sisters Springs

Though Three Sister’s Springs is closed until November for upkeep, it’s a great place to take the kids hiking this winter. The 1.3-mile loop trail, located on US Hwy 19 in Crystal Springs, Florida and offers birding, hiking, and walking and takes about 22 minutes to complete.

#4 The Mound Trails  

The Mound Trails are part of Crystal River Archeological State Park that is located on N Museum Point in Crystal Springs. It’s a .9 mile loop that is generally considered an easy, kid-friendly route. It takes about 16 minutes to walk through but it’s a popular spot for birding and running too. Leashed dogs are welcome.  

#5 Crystal River State Park Eco Walk 

The Crystal River State Park Eco Walk is a 2.4-mile loop trail also located in the CR Preserve State Park. It’s located on N Tallahassee Rd and takes about 41 minutes to complete if you walk straight through but again, these are great for hiking, birding, and running among other things.
