Museum of Aviation – Robbins AFB 

You’ll definitely want to stop here on your journey to Orlando. Located just outside Warner Robins, Georgia, near the air force base, Museum of Aviation – Robbins AFB is the second largest aerospace museum of the United States Air Force.  

It sits on 51 acres of land and boasts upwards of 90 historic aircraft with four exhibit buildings. If your family digs history or the joy of flight, this is the perfect box to check on your itinerary. The museum is free to get in and open from 9 AM to 4 PM daily.   

Grand Bay Wildlife Management Area – Valdosta, GA 

Located on 13,000 acres of swampland near Lanier County and Lowndes County, Georgia, the Grand Bay Wildlife Management Area is a beautiful spot to stop and stretch your legs. Here there are miles of boardwalks through various terrains and a broad range of wildlife. There is also an observation tower from which you can see for miles. 

Big Shoals State Park – White Springs, FL 

Just a couple of miles from I75 and a mile northeast of White Springs, Florida, Big Shoals State Park features the largest whitewater rapids in Florida. Open 365 days a year and charging merely four bucks a vehicle, the park is a gorgeous place to spend a few hours hiking around the limestone bluffs near the roaring rapids.

Butterfly Rainforest at the Florida Museum of Natural History – Gainesville, FL 

This amazing living exhibit boasts hundreds of free-flying butterflies and birds from around the world along with an assortment of other animals such as turtles and fish. Butterfly Rainforest starts at $14 for adults and $7.50 for ages 3 – 17. Kids under 3 get in free.

Devil’s Den – Williston, FL 

We think Devil’s Den tops the list of cool attractions on the road from Atlanta to Florida. It’s also quite possibly the most beautiful cave in the world.  

There is a vast underground cave in which visitors can snorkel and even scuba dive. But you’ll need to make an appointment.  You can also camp here for the night as there are campsites as well as RV hookups.
