#1 Alexander Springs Recreation Area

On County Rb 455 in Altoona, you’ll discover Alexander Springs Recreation Area. These shallow clear waters make for refreshing afternoon dips.

The area also has plenty of deep water and ropes from which to jump in. A mile-long trail runs through the area that follows a path once traveled by early Native Americans.

#2 Devil’s Den Spring

Devil’s Den Spring is formed by a karst window, in which the roof over a subterranean river has collapsed. It’s located just under two hours from Orlando near Williston, Florida.

The spring provides the opportunity to paddle around 33-million-year-old fossil beds or snorkel beneath the stalactite formations. The water in the underground stream is always at a cool 72 °F. Devil’s Den is also operated as a SCUBA diving training and recreational facility.

#3 Lithia Springs Regional Park

Lithia Springs Regional Park is located an hour and a half from Orlando on Lithia Springs Road in Lithia, Florida. With its steady 72 °F temperature, Lithia Springs offers relaxing refreshments any time of the year. The park also features a bathhouse and a children’s play area to keep the youngsters entertained.

The park is expansive with a great deal of shade and lots and lots of picnic tables. A $2 fee is required to enter the park.

#4 Silver Glen Springs Recreation Area

Silver Glen Springs Recreation Area is a beautiful swimming hole at the mouth of Lake George in the most beautiful part of the Ocala National Forrest. Just over an hour and 20 minutes from Orlando, Florida, it’s the ideal spot to drive to for a refreshing day of fun.

From the cool, crystal-clear water you can get many chances to see fish up close in the natural springs. So, be sure and bring your snorkel!

#5 Ichetucknee Springs State Park

It may be a two-hour drive from Orlando, but it’s worth the trip. Located on US Hwy 27 in Fort White, Florida Ichetucknee Springs State Park is cool; and clear and known for its tubing. Bring some tubes and float lazily down this river with your feet hanging in the cool clear water.
