The chief reason for visiting a Florida Panhandle restaurant would normally be the fresh seafood. However, there are a few wild and fun places here too and you don’t want to miss them while you’re visiting. Let’s unpack some of the Wild & Fun Places to Eat in the Florida Panhandle.
Lambert’s Cafe
Lamberts Cafe is located on S. McKenzie in Foley, Alabama just a short drive from Florida’s coast. You’ll be hard-pressed to find anyone complaining about the time they had when eating here. Known as Home of the Throwed Rolls, Lambert’s serves up good old-fashioned Southern fare and loads of fun.
Lambert’s Cafes is a chain restaurant founded in 1942 with spots in Foley, Alabama and Sikeston, Missouri and Ozark, Missouri. You’ll quickly notice, if you’re hitting the spot for the first time, the huge portions they serve. But don’t order bread with your eyes closed because they toss rolls to you!
The cafe is located next to a factory outlet mall and has a wide variety of places to visit so you can make a day of the trip here. The service here is top-notch and the beach is nearby. They serve up large portions of Southern fare and they bring you free food such as fried okra, throughout your meal, so expect to leave with a full belly.
Peg Leg Pete’s
Located on Fort Pickens Rd in Pensacola, Florida, eating at Peg Leg Pete’s is a decidedly unique experience. It’s a pirate-themed seafood restaurant featuring a children’s play area as well as a raw bar.
Pete’s is known as a superb place for fresh oysters, shrimp, and seafood, but they also offer vegetarian dishes if that’s your bag.
You can park your boat at Peg Legs, but though there are many spots, availability is limited due to the restaurant’s popularity. They have a wheelchair access ramp, and they are pet friendly so you can bring your pooch along for the experience.
Dick’s Last Resort
Dick’s Last Resort is a well-known restaurant chain with locations across the country. However, we’ll address their Panama City Beach location which can be found on Front Beach Rd.
If you aren’t familiar with Dick’s, prepare to be shocked. This fun place features gruff staffers who will insult you as a rule. Don’t take offense though, it’s all part of the experience. Your service will be a jerk and you’ll be insulted.
Dick’s serves everything from burgers to BBQ. They also serve plenty of seafood, steaks, chicken alfredo, and plenty of drinks for both kids and adults.
